BBQ Rub Recipe

My Favorite BBQ Rub Recipe

This is my favorite BBQ rub recipe that I use across the board on everything I cook. It goes great with pork and chicken, and I also use it on my beef briskets as well. I would say it is a traditional sweet & heat type of rub.

½ cup lightly packed brown sugar
¼ cup paprika
1 tbs salt
1 tbs chili powder
1 tbs black pepper
1 tbs garlic powder
1 tbs onion powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper (I will adjust this up or down depending on how much heat I want)

This will be enough to do about 5 or 6 pieces of meat (ribs, pork butts, or chickens). I usually use less on a brisket as I will add other flavors to the brisket. I will place the rub in one of my 16 oz plastic shakers and keep the extra in a zip lock bag or a mason jar.

This rub is really great on ribs and pork butt.  You will get a really nice bark on your meat with this rub.  By cooking low and slow, you don’t have to worry about the sugar burning on you and if you wrap half way through the cook, you will have a nice looking bark on your meat.

  1. I have been fortunate enough to try your BBQ a few different times. I agree, the flavor for the pulled pork is phenomenal and I’m looking forward to the next time your BBQ is available in my area.
